ed me and she definitely was not the person who should have gotten the credit. Full credit shopld have been given to Mrs. Hugh B. Scott. I called Jane Scotf immediately and she was darned nice about it and said "forget it" but I can’t, MEA CULPA, me so sorry. ONE NICE THING came out of my error, I learned that Joyce Anne, one of the Townley's daughters, made the Deans List at the

University of Delaware in her freshman year! Daugther Susan Jean, as Junior Princess, presided over the Junior-Senior Prom of Middle Township High school which was held at Stone Harbor Yacht Club. and among the strollers we spotted the Ross Baileys, Jane A Carey Boss, the BUI Klotzbnchen, the Tom Mitchells and Ethel Rudraoff. Ethel's husband, Charlie, was too busy making money for the borough selling beach tags at Boro Hall and averaging an almost $7,000 dally intake. • • • WE’RE SORRY to have to report that Margaret and John Gontar had just returned from a lovely winter in Florida when John suffered a serious illness and was rushed to Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. He is in South Solarium No. 2 If you'd like to send him a card. • • • AVALON’S LIFEGUARD Capt. Murray Wolf, is looking into the advisability of converting the beach at 7th St. and First Ave. to 8th St. and Avalon Ave. into a bathing beacfi. Because of the turbulence of the water at this spot it was formerly reserved for sailcraft but the channel has shifted, lessening the current and if Captain Wolf deems it safe, it use will be expanded to include swimming. • • • FRIDAY OUR Enfant Terrible, a mini-dachshund named Schnitzel spotted his arch riv&l, Dusty the collie and in his excitement knocked down a favorite vase containing dried flowers. The vase survived but the flowers didn’t and since we had houseguests arriving momentarily and the guest room looked like a child with a front missing, We rushed the vase over to Jane Vance who helps, her brother with his Gate House Flower and Gift Shop. She quickly supplied a new arrangement which we like better than the original. A FEW DAYS ago when we were visiting we noticed

strong ordinances prohibiting noise. And misbehavior. Last summer, Boro Council stiffened the fines for those who don’t adhere To these rules: $150 for the first offense, $500 for the second and a stay in the County slammer for the third. As a result of these stiff fines, Avalon did not have ONE repeat offender last year. • • • WE RE GETTING some great new neighbors — Dr. David Connolly and his wife Cooky have bought TIUle Moore's former home at 8415 Third Ave. They have moved in from their winter home in Pittsburgh, Pa with their five youngsters; Coleen, David. Meghan, Cara and Akne. Welcome to the "Seashore at its Best" Unfortunately we lose some too. Ray and Janet Groff of 8530 Sunset Dr. have sold their home here and plan to live year-round in their gorgeous Condo in Delroy Beach. Fla. • • • LEARNED LAST Thursday that Avalon's Solicitor, Robert A. Flneberg and Joseph J . Rodgers, First Assistant County Prosecutor are going to merge their expertise and form a new law firm at 5213 Pacific Ave. They’ll be sending out announcements soon and their astute team started working together June 1. • • • MANY STONE HARBORITES went to Cold Spring Village Saturday, May 23 for the opening of the historic village on Seashore Rd. This is a must which we think will eventually rival Williams as a tourist attraction. Mayor Tom Clydesdale of Lower Township did the ribbon cutting and his wife Alice was busy in the candle-dipping shop, which her daughter runs, while we were there. It’s like tak(Page 13 Please)
