Boro Wins Suit On Sex Bi as

* STONE HARBOR - Sex 'discrimination was not pnv ved by Nancy Taylor Lloyd in» her suit against the borough. That was the opinion handed down by Superior Court Judge Margin L. Haines in a case where Lloyd had charged she was denied employment as a police officer in the borough because she is a woman. The suit, filed in August 1978, came to trial in September 1980. with the decision rendered recently. In it Lloyd charged that the Borough failed to hire her irt 1974, and agtiin in 1977, as a regular police officer despite her employment as a police dispatcher and "special officer", her experience in weapons training, occasional participation in narcotics raids involving female suspects and ather educational qualifications. IN DISMISSING the discrimination charge with regard to her denial of employment in 1977, Judge Haines noted, “considerable testimony pro duced by tfie borough showed that before and after filing of this temployment) application her attitude toward her work, the public and personnel of the police department was very poor, that these reasons sup ported the rejection of her application." With regard to the denial of her employment in 1974." Judge Haines noted that. "Plaintiff failed to prove a prima facie case." He further observed, "It is of some significance that the plaintiff did not bring her

suit until over four years af.ter the alleged discriminatory action took place, after she had left the force, after her husband had become the object of disiplinary charges, and after she had filed a second employment application which was rejected." Representing the Borrtugh in the suit was Attorney WfUiam M. Balliett* Jr. of the law firm of Cafiero and Balliette. Lloyd was represented by her brother. Attorney Robert L. Taylor of the firm of Way. Way. Goodkin apd Taylor. Both firmq are located in Wildwood
