Festival, Sale Aid Restoration

CAPE MAY - A strawberry festival and Christmas bazaar to benefit the Colonial House restoration fund of the Greater Cape May Historical Society will be 11 to 4 Wednesday, June 17. Located adjacent to city hall (rear) and behind Alexander's restaurant, the circa 1775 hoifce will be

open to the public for guided tours starting June 15. Tours will be 11 to 2 Monday, Wednesday and Friday. THE FESTIVAL and sale will be on the house grounds. Featured will be old fashioned strawberry shortcake, hot dogs and saurkraut, ice tea, coffee and ice cream. According to historian Catharine

Doyle, a "nice selection of Christmas gifts for the early shopper” will also be offered. The Colonial House, once part of the Hughes Estate, features simple lines and is one of the last such structures in the city. Originally on the front lot, the house was moved to the rear in the late 1800s
