sylvania HorticMture Society. Living greenery pervades inside and out. Their favorite room, for instance, has outstanding ferns and other plants accenting the Oriental rugs, Oriental furniture and objects d’art. Specimen plantings in the garden include varieties of hollies, everygreens, iris, Ulies, hibiscus, begonias and, of course mums. If they can take their eyes off the garden, those on the inside Jfcking out (the Sossichs enjoying entertaining) may view the ocean one block away, from several first and second floor rooms.

Gordon Sossich was a federal executive responsible for opera-

tions and maintenance of the Army’s arsenals, proving grounds, ammunition manufacturing g iants, laboratories and depots. eatric Barker Sossich is a retired federal secretary. They have one son, Robert 28, who is service technician for Hobart Corp. The senior Sossichs lived in Washington, D C. before moving permantently to Ocean City several years ago. But New Jersey’s second largest resort city was no stranger to them; they had vacationed here when they were younger. And neither seem to miss not being behind a desk. Gardening and entertaining keeps them on their toes, as does caring and maintaining their lovely twelve room home near the sea.

Home-style southern cooking — tipo Italiano—at the shore

ByJohnV.R. Bull fnduirer Staff Writer

Good home-cooking is hard to find at Jersey shore restaurants, but if you go to Marabella's, you will be offered a welcome change from the fried seafood and cole slaw served at

so many restaurants.

This seven-year-old family dining place in the middle of Stone (fprbor offers fine southern Italian Cntsine

at moderate prices.

There’s nothing fancy about Marabella’s, which is operated** a South Philadelphia (amity. The plastic-covered tables have paper placematx, hanging plants decorate the front window*, and children

receive free bollBem.

But the food is freshly homecooked dally and some of it is excellent. The homemade tomato sauce, for instance, is ridh and flavorful, obviously fresh, and it goes exceptionally well on the homemade manicotti amt lasagne
