Jersey Cape by Bob Rhlles COURT HOUSE - In a > move that has been described' by some Democratic leaders as a badly needed shot in the arm for the county organization, county Democrat committee members elected James lannone last Tuesday as the new county leader The 34 year-old lannone, coordinator of the James Florio for governor campaign, defeated incumbent Joseph De Franco of Ocean City by a vote of 63 to 36. De Franco has served as county party leader for two years. , A SKA IsLE CITY real estate agent, lannone has served as the municipal party leader for ttfo years. He also was the county coordinator for Sen. Edward Kennedy's unsuc cessful bid for the 1980 presidential nomination, and managed the campaigns of last year's county freeholder candidates. Charles Town and Michael Voll. "The county organization needs a shot in the arm,” lannone said shortly after his victory.” "There are many that feel I'm the vitamin that’s needed.” he said. In a speech to some 175 party faithful, the new county chairman called on Democrats countywide to make themselves visible and be heard. •THIS PARTY HAS lacked guts in the past," he said claiming that under his leadership county Democrats will seek a new direction.

Democrats . * Noting that Republicans hold the edge both in numbers and financial support. Mr. lannone stressed that it \yill take the support of all county Democrats to win the election in November. But, he added, with gubernatorial candiate James Florio and Senate; candidate Kdward Salmon heading the ticket. 1981 is going to he a Democratic year. Also at the annual reorganization, Mary Kalbach was elected vice , chairman.
