THE HIGHER SOCIAL security payments are a result Of the increase in the consumer price index from the first three months of 1980 as compared to the first three months of 1981. "The July increase will help our retired citizens, widows, the disabled, dependents and survivors by reducing the effect inflation has on their benefits,” Brooks said. Also effective in July is an increase in the Medicare premiums, which is normally deducted from a beneficiaries benifit check. The new medicare premium will be 611 per month rather than the $9.60 per month premium which has been in effect since July, 1980.
