The red brick Presbyterian Church in Cold Spring was founded m 1714 by some of the original settlers of Cape May County whalers, fishermen and farmers. The present building built in 1823, was the third to be constructed on tfre'same site While the church itself is interesting, the cemetery which surrounds it is even more so. The natnes on, many ol the tomb stones are those of the first people living in,the county whose descendants are slid residing in the area. It has been said that therq are more Mayflower descendants buried here than in any one spot outside of Massachusetts One of the Mayflower survivors marrjed into' a Cape May County family, and since the local families tended to inter marry and remain in the area.
