SW^A INTON Learning’s Run Botanical Gardens open today for their fourth season. It is a place of beauty located in a quiet woodland setting thv the property of Jack and Emily Aftril on Rtc 9 here Recent researo^ reveals that Thomas 1x7ming (a son of Christopher Learn irtg). a whaler, purchased the 320-acrc plantation in 1695 and built his home jn >\ 1706 It was his brother for whom the stream was nam ed “Uncle Aaron Ixaming’s Run." Till* EARLY HISTORY is highlighted by a log cabin, ham and shed built by April, fail fences in the gardens, and at trail’s end, Emily’s dried flower arrangements, which are displayed in the Cooperage, a barn built in 1730 by the whaler, one of ‘ Cape May County’s first settlers, and used in the 1700’s to make barrels for whale oil.
