Cape,Villas Artists Tops In Sr. &Kow

RIO GRANDE — Despite torrid temperatures and the lure of the beaches. Cape May County artists filed into the Rio Mall July 8 for the Seventh Annual Senior Citizens Art Contest and Exhibition, sponsored by the Cape May County Office on Aging.. First place awards went to J. Anton Miller of Cape May for his painting, NonOlympic Skaters in the professional class, ahd Midge McDonough of the Villas for her Wild Turkey in the non-professional category. SECOND AND third place winners under professional were Edwin Hewitt and Bertha Marker; in nonprofessional, they went to Emily Brodbeck and Bess Kohler. Honorable Mention was given for paintings by Marie McDonald and William Spaeth. PAINTINGS including mediums like oil, acrylic and water color were primarily scenes or inspirations from the Jersey Cape. Winning entries from county shows throughout the state will be exhibited August 1 to 23 in Trenton. Judges Julliana Todd and Ray Schultz diliberated over some 66 entries before announcing their decisions. Roberta Brown and Emmie Lennon, representing the Office on Aging, attached the blue, red, yellow and white ribbons to the winning pictures.
