tie Old Cedar Meeting House on Route 9, Seaville, is one of oldest existing houses of worship in New Jersey. Buttt in Bccsley's Point in the early 1700 s, it was. soon moved to its present location, as the majority of the Cape May County Quakers lived nearby ft was the center for those who as early as the beginning of the nineteenth century fought to bah'slavery. Through the efforts of these Quakers and others, in 1820,-New Jersey passed a law emancipating thcslaves > The building has remained relatively unchanged until recently, when an addition was constructed. , J.A Cunningham is co-author of the popular book on Jersey Cape history, "Cape May County Story."
