I WE CHECKED out the Antique Show and Sale I Sponsored annually by the ! Stone Harbor Women’s Club. This year it was for the 32nd time. Practice makes perfect and the only thing that could have been faulted was failure to tell the weather man to ’'cool As we walked nown the elementary school hail we were charmed by a terfific collection of hand-designed and hand-rflade quilts, many were very old but all could be duplicated or made to order with size and, colors specified. The work is dorie by women of the Amish persuasion in the Pennsylvania Dutch country. The exhibitors were Mary Belle and Henry Harris of Meadville, Pa. THE NEXT things which shook our resolutions not to spend money were six crystal tumblers, exuisite' b*it one had a chip and needed To be ground, and we dorl’t know anyone in the area tfh<^ does that work. We may-still write to Wood's Antiqtps ift Vincentown, N.J. ant) get those.

The Wood’s specialty is pressed glass lamps with hand made shades. Lighthouse Antiques had a pair of goreous Staffordshire Lions but we’d been warned that if another piece of Staffordshire came, in the front door our own antique spouse would leave by the back and having weighed our priorities we moved on, , s'* NEXT WE STOPPED at Pooles Antiques of New Hope and all resolve vanished. Franny Poole, Tom afld their five children were a familiar sight in Avalon for many years when their winter home was ia Gladwyne. Later they tried life in Connecticut ahd Hawaii. Now their permanent .home and business is in New Hppe. They come here each year to exhibit at this show. Franny has becohie celebrated amoung collectors and with decorators in Philadelphia andiNew York for her Poole PPojVc — handpainted balustrades, bed posts, and other attractive parts of furniture painted to resemble dolls. We couldn't resist and got two for our pok poufri dinningroom and one as a gift for a friend who has everything else. ENORMOUS ENERGY

makes this show the un J qualified success which it is. Modestly priced luncheons aryjl dinners are served on^specified days and evenings. Wives, mothers and grandmothers prepare the food and their husbands deliver it. Children and grandchildren act as waitresses. The three guiding hands are Toddy Kelton, Dottle Stump and Ramona Wilson, who with their battalion i of supporters wore many hats: The day we lunched vthere, pretty Bethanne Larkin and Stephanie Paillson, daughter, of Joan and David Paulson of 110th St. served our lunch. Stephanie was Little Miss Stone Harbor in 1977. MARIE SPENCER served behind the counter for three consecufiye days. We have never seen Marie when she wasn’t giving her all (to dozens of good causes) and never without a smile and looking daisy fresh. Among others who work 1 ed three or more days on tfte projeci were Peg - Grimes,' Dottie Stump, and Hilda Mixself. This.is only the tip of the iceberg — many, many gals worked (Page 15 Please)
