Tax Break Seen Aiding Fishermen
M^LLVILLp — Assemblyman James R. •Hurley says he has high hopes the exemption of the purchase price of commercial" fishing boats from the state’s 5 percent sales tax will, prove a prop to the New Jersey fishing industry. The Hurley bill, designated A-911, was signed into law recently by Governor Byrne. "COMMERCIAL fishing boats with the
required equipment cost many thousands of dollars and the elimination of the 5 per cent sales tax amourtts to a considerable price advantage;" Hurley said. "It should prove an added ipcentive for the boat building industry* to expand New Jersey's facilities or to relocate here," Hurley commented. “The people in the -fishing industry, including shellfishing, have been after this law for some time."
