Charged with Vioiating State Child Labor Law
TRENTON - Charges have been'brought against a dozen employers in seashore areas, including ten on the Jersey Cape, ac* cusing them of violating the; state* Child Labor* -In a prAs release. Labor and Industry Commissioner Jbhn Hor4 said the charges resulteoyrom investigators by g special task force created to seek out cases of youth'fexplbitation in summer jobs. He. said the task force was engaged in day and night inspections to ensure, that youngsters were paid properly and that employment was in compliance with Child Labor regulations. THE COMMISSIONER emphasized the charges involved only a small minors ty of seashore employers - Most employers, he said, were found to be in compliance with all laws under jurisdiction of the Division ol^Vorkplace,Standards. In previous' seasons* there have been complaints bv both employers and area legislators tht division personnel were picayune and overzealous in their enforcethont and that some provisions of the law are archaic.
