PAT BENATAR’S third album. ’Precioys Time” (Chrysalis) offers no major surprises for her large following. The sound is basic heavy metal pop. Her songs are catchy, her band provides a hard driving guitar sound, and Pat Benatar’s. powerful vocals are always a joy to hear. The material on ’’Precious Time” is stronger than before, making this a sure bet for her third straight topten album. Pat BenataMsjust starting to hit her stride. CLASSIX NOUVEAUX is one of England’s latest rages, and their futuristic pop sound of synthesizers and haunting vocals is quite enjoyable. The rhythms are uniformally danceable, mixing new wave with disco. Several of these tracks would be perfect summer hits, but the bulk of Classix Nouveaux’s record sales will come , from airplay in rock discos. Theil album is on Liberty Records. DAVID JOHANSEN’S third album. “Here Comes The Night” (Blue Sky) is what he does best; straight rock and roll. Johansen leads his group through eleven dynamic tracks, that show he is maturing''bbth as a writer and as a vocalist. Influenced by the British invasion of the mid-sixties, as well as the legendary soul hits on Motown. David Johansen takes this inspiration, digests it, and comes up with a sound that’s sincere and personal. David Johansen has come close to finding mass acceptance, and this album just might find him cracking the top of the charts DESPITE THEIR NAME. The l«ounge Lizards are^ajazz group. Their depul album on Editions EG finds them playing in a variety of styles, ranging from bop to modern. Add to that an intense rock edge, and the end result is one of the most interesting and promising first efforts of the year. The Lounge Lizards might not find commercial fame, but they’ll surely influence a lot of musicians
