CAPE MAY - One car was'totaled and two others also had to be towed from the scene following a seven-vehicle accident in the most.congested area of this resort’s beachfront early Saturday night; incredibly no one was seriously injured. \ Six persons were transported to the hospital by the local rescue squad following the mishap, which began around 7:40 p m. when, according to police, a car driven by Donald K. Springmann, 29, of Bowie, Md., struck the first of,five vehicles. POLICE SAID Springmann attempted to flee after his vehitle, which was totaled, finally came to rest after successively striking five other vehicles in both lanes of traffic. The multiple-vehicle crash began at Perry St. and Beach Dr. and continued a full b)dck along Beach to Jackson St., where Springniann’s car finally stopped ' spinning, and the fifth vehicle he had struck was knocked into an unloaded bus.
