Lifeline Notices Ready
TREtyTON Recipients of Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged. Social Security Disability. Medical Assistance to the Aged and the Medicaid Only programs will receive applications in the mail this month for the Lifeline utility credit- program. Human Services Commissioner Timothy Carden has announced. i Under the prograih, eligible elderly and disabled individuals will receive a $150 credit which will be
applied by utility companies to natural gas and electric bills, Carden said. CARDEN NOTED that this is the first year .that tenants whose utility cost are included in their rental will be able to benefit from the Lifeline program. He said that tenants who do not pay utilitybills directly will receive a $150 check toward increased coa$ of utilities. To qualify for the program, an individual must be a New Jersey resident,

must have an annuaL income less than $9,000 if single, and less than $12,000 jointly if married, must be receiving bertefiU from the •programs cited and .must be at least 65 years old by Dec. 31, or have received Social Security Disability Benefits between July 1961 and January 1962.. The individual of spouse mtist also receive a utility bill in his or her name unless the person is a tenant and the cost of utilities is included in the rent.
