HONAN THE ROWER repeats his winning ways in Thursday’s competition. Avalon, Ocean City Guards Share Sj Championships
AVALON — In show of disciplined skill, Avalon repeated lajit year’s effort in the South Jersey Lifeguard ChamtfTdnships last Thursday. JWinning first place in twoxpit of the three events and scoring 12 % points — the same scored by Ocean City who shared the championship tie. Avalon’s Ed Flory cap tured the one title that has elude him to this point in the three quarter mile swim. Flory swam a straight course and won first place by 35 seconds. Jim Ronan, repeated his winning ways this year by taking the singles race to make sure Avdlon’s guards were co-champs. THE DOUBLES crew race wgs won by Ocean City's team of Ron Kirk and John Herron. Atlantic City'slteam of Mike and Dean Castellani placed second; Sea Isle City's Bill Riley and Tom McFadden. third with Avalon’s team Dan O’Malley and Pcte^ Soderman placing fourth. In the long swim, Ocean City's Brian Helco placed, second, with Atlantic City’s Mike Mazzone third.
