^Jersey Cape HISTORICALLY 1 ' by J.A. Cunningham
The John Holmes House, home of the County Historical and Genological Society Museum, is well worth a visit. The house, the barn and the grounds take you back centuries in time, as you wander among Indian relics, whaler's implements, country store equipment arid as you view the colonial kitchen, furniture, dolls, and treasures of another day. The kitchen section of the houSe was built in 1755, and the main section between 1778 and 1835, representing the best craftsmanship of that period. The house has had few changes of ownership and has been relatively untouched by modernization. The museum is located on Rt.9 north of Cape May Court House, and is open to the public. J.A. Cunningham is co-author of the popular book on Jersey Cape history," Cape May County Story.”
