The Weather We Start to cooldfoWn in August but it may be hard to notice. Afternoon highs average in thelov^er 80’s at the shore to the middle 80's inland. Morning lows normally are in the /nlddle 60's at the shore while dropping down to the lower fiO's inland. However, a few SO' readings can still be expected, especially in the first half of the month. The county record is 103* on August. 7,1918 at Belleplaih. The Cape May City record at 100* was set on the same date. Rainfall-wise, August averages as the wettest of the year with 41/3" at the shore to 5 1/2" well inland. Thunderstorm activity gives the northern half of the county greater rainfall. Coastal storms (all in the past we hope!) aided in producing the overall higher averages. * . The Tides Computed for the Cape May City beachfront; for other areas of the ocean 4
