THE FIRST SOLO ALBUM by Blondie'sTJrhble Harry has bden anxiously anticipated, and. at.long last, it's out and in the stores. KfhjKoo (Chrysalis) takes the pleasantly distinctive voice of Ms Harry and corifbines it with two of the hottest disco producers of the ^st decade. Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. ** The end result is a perfect, danceable pop record. Debbie Harry is tn fine voice, the sound is full, yet not overly lush; and" the songs are infectious and rhythmic, but never mundane While the only other Blondie member to be on this record is. guitarist/songwriter Chris Stein, one has to wonder about the future of Blondie. One thing is certain, if •the group does split,'Chris Stein and Debbie Harry will cohtinue to expefime^ and record. This is a thoroughly epjoyahle album that’s perfect for listening or dancing. OCT FOR SOMETIME, but. for some reason. - not revTewed here, Elvis Costello’s Trust (Columbia) is another collection of first rate song, sting with passion and performed, by^ his band, The Attractions with firey enthusiasm. Elvis Costello is. for good reasdn, regarded one of the finest pop writers today, and he’s showing no signs of letting up AFTER TWO IMPRESSIVE, powerful pop albums for Sire, The Undertones’ third album Positive Touch (Harvest) comes as a surprise. The Undertones are softer, less aggressive, and they seem to be writing a lot more ballads Nevertheless. The Undertones have solid writing and exhUbererit vocalists, making any record by them a treat. AFTER A STRING OF promising, though sometimes mediocre, albums, rockabilly vocalist Robert Gordon has finally given us the album hc’s'al\^TS hinted he was capable of Are You Gnnha Be The Oni^tCA > has consistent material, a tough, no nonsense musical backing, and Robert Gordon in fine voice. Sdnu’day? Someway charted on a good many radio stations. and. in fact, it deserved to be a top-ten smash Robert Gordon has a new lease on his musical career. FORTUNATELY FOR ROBERT GORDON he’s come up with his hottest album, because there's plenty of competition in the rockabilly genre. New. young bandK are cropping up.each day and most oMhem are good. The Hockats are one of thetiPtlcr ones and their debut album. Live At The Rjfr (Island) is a must for fans of the crazed, uptempo rnrltabilly sounds. Good material; plenty of enthusiasm. aiW a very visual cover help bring attention lo The RopKats From all reports, tbeir live show is fantastic and I’ve got tWb hunch they’re going to be around for a long tiem
