PHILADELPHIA - When the U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers sent out a public notice recently on a proposed dredging project in Delaware Bay, i( was an example of the right church but wrong pew. The notice (NAPftP-R-81-0279-3 to be official) iftformed the public that the Great Lake Dredge & Dock Co. of Union, had applied for a permit to dredgean area of the bay between Litton and Cross Ledge ranges, marine traffic lanes in the upper reaches of the bay where it narrows to form the mouth of the Delaware River. PROBLEM IS the map accompanying the public notice, while showing the correct longitude and latitude for the site designated on the map, was incorrect by a number of miles and several minutes (fractions of a degree on a chart). Among'responses the Army Engineers here received were those from the Cape May County Planning Board and the Cape May County Herald and Lower Township Lantern! Telephone calls to the Corps headquarters in the Philadelphia Customs Hpuse confirmed that the Liston and Cross Ledge ranges were indeed the intended site. Instead of the 39 N, 75.20 W coordinates as shown on the notice map, the latitude and longitude should have been
further north and west.
The intended'project involved dredging upwards of 25 /nillion cubic yards of sand,
silt and shell from.the Liston/Cross Ledge borrow site to provide batkfill material for
public tvorks projects.

Spraying Has Veil Backing
RIO GRANDE - Michael Voll, Democratic candidate,, for Middle Twp. Committee, has announced his support for a comprehensive Gypsy Moth Spraying program next spring. Citing the township's failure to spray this past year, Voll said that decision cost Middle Township 9,000 square acres in defoliation.
"It is important that any further damage to our woodlands be avoided," Voll said. "Healthy forests are a blessing in that they provide recreation to our residents, a natual filter for our air and water supplies, providing food fend shelter for wildlife, reducing noise pollution up to 65 percent, and reducing soil erosion."
Voll said he would rather have a $5 increase in taxes than have township residents put $30 (for a private contractor to spray) o<it of their pockets in this time of tight monty. Rte. 9 Paving
