MU^ Chairman John Vinci and solid waste manager Ted O'Neill l( reported to the authority " -v last Wednesday oh a recent inspection trip taa sanitary landfill in Honey Brook, Pa. owned and operated by the Lahchester CorpjM'ation. "It is perfw\Jy clean, not a paper or bag or bird was seen." O'Neill explained the 500-acre site using 140 acres as a landfill, Was begun in 1972 and was only working in a 40-acre space at the present He explained the liner used w. a 4-in. layer of
asphalt insfead of PVC plastic. The asphalt was laid down after the area was properly compacted and graded. Then a 2-ft layer of soil was applied before,solid waste was permitted. The landfill currently is. receiving up to 1,000 tons of solid waste per day. "IT IS $ big operation," O’Neill noted, "larger than the one we saw jn Delaware and much larger than the one we will be construe-_ ^ing." The recreation potential for the site wlfep it is com* pletely used whs explained by Vinci. EAST HANOVER - Cape May County -officials and officials from throughout 'the state will participate in a special seminar on animal problems, law eftforcemejU. and legislatidn sponsored'' by the Morris ^ounly Branch of the Nev^fcrsey Society for the Prevention of. Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Sept. 18-20 here. The xAeminar, which is the firetW its kinds, will focus on the basic care and handling of domestic and common wild animals, afccording to president Murray.Flatow. The seminar is open to law enforcement officers, municipal animal control workers, humane and shplter groups, SPCA societies, ^legislators, political officials, and interested animal lovers. A PANEL DISCUSSION will be held with officials from throughout the state exchanging ideas on animal problems. The seminar w^il begin at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 18 at the Ramada Inn on Route 10 and will last through 5 p m. Sept. 20. giving participants ,the,opportunity to spend one/to three days there. ing dogs, discussions on investigation techniques and procedures and a panel of experts on animal problems will also be part of the program, with a banquet to be held Saturday' evening.
