TOWNSHIP votefs will have plenty of important decisions to make when ► they go to the polls No*. 3. In addition to selecting a local committeeman for a three-year term, deciding if locbl retail Ijquor establishments should be openpfter 3 a.m., choosing state and county officials and voting on a number of state questions- voters will also have to elect a township clerk. THIS YEAR the only candidate on the ballot will be incumbent Claudia Kammer. Mrs. Rammer has held the clerk’s position since January—appointed by the Township Committee following the retirement of former clerk Helen O’Neill.. The clerk’s term is for three years—tenure being granted after five years. If elected in November, Mrs. Kammer will have to face re-election' once more in 1984. ONLY A WEEK left before wedding bells peal for Committeewoman Peggie Rieberbach. The committeewoman and retired Coast Guard Warrant Officer Royce W. Fulcher will tie the knot Oct. 10 during an afteriioon ceremony at the/ Coast Guard Training Center chapel. Township business will have to carry on a couple of weeks without the services of the committeewoman, since, the newlyweds plan to embark Oct. 15 on a 12-day Caribbean cruise. IF YOU’RE interested in learning about chrysan themums be sure to attend the Gardening by the Sea Club's next meeting on Oct. 7. The group will meet at 10 a.m. in the township recreation center. , • • THE TOWNSHIP Committee made it clear last week that Teleprompter Corp. won’t automatically have its franchise here renewed when its present contract runs out in 1989. ‘\ A resolution is now on the drawing board calling the cable company’s decision

to remove New York City Channel 5 (WNEW) - rather than a Philadelphia station — and replace it with Atlantic City Channel 53 (WWAC) a breach of contract. The resolution also suggests Teleprompter seek a waiver from the Federal Communication Commission’s order that Atlantic City Channel 53, must be carried. The substitution of WWAC for WNEW was made during the summer—a move Teleprompter claims was necessary to meet FCC requirements. A sub«itution had to be m^de since no room was available on the 12 statign dial to add an extra station. • • • DON'FORGET the township Taxpayers Assn, will be holding its annual candidates night at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at St. Raymond’s Church Hall, Villas. According to Assn, president Cass Clark, most of the candidates for local, county and state offices will attend. A public question-answer period will be provided. • • • SEEMS THE Clover Inn in the ViUas is having trouble paying its food bills. In order to pay some $15,450 owed Axelsson & Johnson Fish Co. Inc., property on Cloverdale Ave. now owned by Clover Inn Inc., will be sold at a Sheriff’s Sale Oct. 21. According to Axelsson attorney Eric Gaver, however, the property to be sold is not that currently housing the restaurant. • • • A SUMMER school program may be in the offing for the Lower Cape May Regional School District. Superintendent Ephraim Keller told the local school board last week that he’s going to recommend funding for such a program be made available in next year’s budget. The reason: more students having to make up failures and loss of credit as a result of the state’s new mandated attendance policy.
