Ian Hunter's new. album Short Bach 'n' Sldci (Chrysalis) is his most consistent and confident album since the demise of the great rock and roll band, Mott the Hoople. Hunter is in fihe voice and his material is mostly hard driving, guitar-dominated rock. As always, there’s a touph of sadness in his lyrics that makes his music painfully human. Ian Hunter has had a very rewarding career and this long-player has to rank as one of its high points. THE SAME THING can!** said about the new album by The Ramones..Pleasant Dreams (Sire) is a high energy pop album that has great, infectious songs and stellar production, courtesy of 10CC frontman and super ’60s hit songwriter Graham Gouldman. The Ramones have to be one of the most misunderstood groups in pop music’s history, buttracks such as We Want The Airwaves, She's A Sensation, and 7—11 could change all that. The Ramones have never been more ready to take on AM radio and Pleasant Dreams could break this group into the big time. THE SOUNDTRACK to the film Heavy MetAl (Asylum) is the perfect giff for those who would rather see a concert at thqSpectrum than go to a club. Favorites auch as Black Sabbdth, Blue Oyster Cult. Devo. Nazareth, and Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks, to mention only a few, arc the key selling points. Surf-rock instrumental bands are on their*vay back and leading the pack is Los Angeles' Jon & the Nightriders. Their second album, Live At the Whiskey A Go-Go (Voxx) is full of exciting, guitar breaks and soaring songs. Leader John Blai^ is a fine guitarist in the tradition of the legendary DiclLDal< , • and this, along with his first album, is a must forariy fan of instrumental rock. TALK TALK TALK (Columbia), the second album by England’s The Psychedelic Furs, is more disciplined and polished than their fairly successful tlebut. The group thrives on a droaning, complex instrumental backing that easily cnchances the theatrical vocals. Very much akin to noddle-period David BoWie, The Psychedelic Furs are going to be an immensely popular and influential band in the ’80s. For Candidates
VILLAS - The Lower Township Taxpayers Assoc, will hold candidates night at St. Raymonds .Church Hall here at 7:30
