Tax To Aid Recycling
COURT HOUSE - The Recycling Act recently signed by Gov. Byrne is expected to generate $6 million to finance recycling projects in the state, according to Diane M. DeMeo, county recycling coordinator. A tax will be levied on the owner of opera toh of every sanitary landfill facility at 12 cents, per cubic yard on all solid waste accepted for disposal. The tax will become effective Jan. 1, THE FUNDS will be allocated as folltfws: not less than 45 percent for the
*. annual expense of a" fiveyear program for recycling grants to municipalities; not less than 26 percent for low interest loans and to extatolish a' reserve for a loan guarantee program for recycling businesses and industries Also, not more than 10 percent for state recycling program planning and funding; not more than 20 per- . cent for county and municipal program planning and funding; not less than 15 percent for a public information and education program on recycling and anti-litter activities.
