JEAN WESTHOFF invited us to our first day with the S. ,H. Sewing Group started by Becky Bailey'* some years ago. . They started out with five members but it has grown to more like 20 regulars now. We took along a tatty old blouse to mend but found everyone else doinj? their own thing. Ruth Fisher (Mrs. Gene) is making a bedspread, Margurite Klotzbucher is making harem evening pants, others were knitting, crocheting etc. Betty Ramsay is about to have an eye operation a\ Lankenau Hosp. so she was goofing'off on the sewing and helping Jessie Strohmetz, Joe , I^evinson and Jean serve us Bloody Marys and a bully feed. We forgot to say that Nancy Philips was sewing an apricot blouse or dress which should look smashing with her elegant hairdo! r . DICK HAGGARTY of 67th and Dune 'Dr. was down last weekend ' winterizing his boat Miss Agnea. At the end of the day he went to get dinner at a local resturant and finding most of them closed he went over to Phillip’s Rocking Chair. He was sitting with a young couple waiting to be served and when they heard ther’d be a 45 minute wait they decided to drive down to Urie’Sj. Dick learned that the two were newlyweds, Jackie and John Woods from suburban Chicago They were new to the area and charmed by it. Especially when Dick gave them a tour by water the next day. They can’t wait to come bhck to-Harbor Hall where they wer^stays ing but figured it won’t be ’till next summer because they’re employed by International Harvester —‘ that’s where they met, • • • GOOD WORKS are noticed. Mary Scott Scarpello of Second Ave . let us know the other day just how much she appreciates the efforts of the Stone Harbor Garden Club for the lovely work they’ve done on the Second Ave. island. “May God bless each and everyone of the members who have worked so hard to keep it so beautiful all summer," she said. "Keep up the good work." THE P. QUILLMAN Kershners (Fran and Quill) of 225 75th St. have just returned from a glamorous chiise on the Chesapeake.

Ethel and Al Johnson, who own the magnificent 68 ft. Trumpy motoryacht Mon Ami which we all drool about when it’s tied up at the S.H. Yacht Club in summer, invited Fran and Quill on a cruise to the Chesapeak last week. If there’s any place that
rivals this arda In the fall, it’s the Chesapeak. They went first to Georgetown expecting to have dinner at the Granary but as so often happens in boating when they secured the yacht they found themselves in the middle of a dockside party. They were immediately
asked to join the parly and bringing goodies from the . Mon Ami the foursome joined the ^oup. IF YOU’VE ever been to a bay d^pkside party you’ll’. know they were too stuffed to make the'Granary that night.* s. The following day they visited Baltimore's renovated inner harbor,. Fran reports that’s ter rific! Everything spanking clean and surrounded by modern buildings with glass exteriors (like Dallas on Television) and dozens
of great new resturants. * jv* r , The Johnson^ are leaving N l/ISl. lyOVCmor
