THE MIDDLE TWP. Panthers opened the C.A. L. season with a 6-0 loss to Buena. It was a Close, hard-fought game with Buena scoring the Lone touchdown on a 75 yd. run back of a punt Coach Phil Exleys remarks on the game: "We have a lot of work to do. The defense did a good job. We are working to eliminate a few mistakes." He praised Jeff Tomlin's punting and Richie Rhlnesmith's-defensive play. He is Also happy with his new wishbone offense. He says the Wildwood game will be a hard faught game. . THERE IS STILL speculation as to who will be the athtatic director when Fred Gross resigns this year. Leading candidates, are Carl Baker, Jim Conlin and Bill Penman. > • • • THE OLD.SPORT hears that Danny Arenberg is playing as a linebacker at Springfield College. Seems a shame to waste that throwing arm on defense. * • • • MIDDLE TOWNSHIP HIGH certainly has a contingent of loyal followers of the football team. Observers at Buena were Mr.A Mrs. Don Rhinesmith, Mr. & Mrs. Ed. Glhorskl, Mr. 4fMrs. Nick Nichols, Mr. & Mrs. Doug Stanford, Mr. & Mrs. Don Hutchinson, Mr. & Mrs. Tanntr, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Tomlin. Eileen Marmer. Joey Tomlin, Mr. & Mrs. Keith Maund, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Richardson. Hope we haven't missed too many • • • THEN THERE WERE the Band followers. It took five ' buses to transport the band to the game. And they gave their usual superb performance. t More Rec Programs
