■HBLaaim! MOST OF MV column will be devoted to that - weekend becauxc — outside of a surf catch that Bill lAnge told me about where a surfer nugfit two.15 lb blues off the Stone, Harbor beach — not much has happened this past week due to* exceptionally heavy winds
and rough seas
I’m finishing up my col;/ umn on $aturday morning tft meet a dea.allne, so I don't know what Sunday will, produce... but if the wind doesn’t lay down there's not going to be too much fishing this weekend . ONE THING we do know, and that’s the fact that there are still plenty of fish around when you can get to them On that weekend we could fish, Gapt. Mark Klliolt on the Gorin-Fishing had 30]ntte'tf«ikfish for his party/on the edge of the "Punk Grounds ”/ Capl. Dan Gust on the Huntress had a party that same weekend that wanted , flounder, so he went down to the "Rips" and came . back with 120 nice flatties while all of us were up in Hereford - catching
weakfish %
I^»u Rodle was telling.me that they're still catching big weakfish up around • Miah Maul Shoal, and Ralph Knlsell's column in Angler's News bore that out, including the fact that some real big blues had been caught above Miah
Maul.
THIS MORNING, (apt. Jim Delany, (apt. Nate High and I called each -Other at 6:30 to see if there was any chance of getting out there, but we finally decided it wasn’t worth it. All the big trawlers were dockad in .tight Friday night,-and that should have been enough advance infop mation, but the weather has been so changeable that we decided to have a look-see early; but it just wasn't fishahle. If you’re going out this week. be sure to check with your local tackle stores or bait stores for information as to where to fish, and what bait to use Down here In Cape May County, Joe Rodia, of Rodia's Tackle. Jim Wallace, of Jim's Bait & Tackle, Steve Seggern Of South Jersey Fishing Center, rf'harlip Glenn of Glenn's Tackle — they all follow the action and they usually know just what's
available. Ben Rudd of Budd's Tackle is another one. I’D SAY the Boy would still be a good place to try when the water clears, and around the inlets is another good bet if the wind keeps blowing from a westerly quarter. Squid and mullet are good baits at this time of the year, along with clam and hard crab (shedders aren't available). It won’t be long till stripers start to appear in the Rips, so it's wise tb line up^vhere

Manganarao, of Green Creek, is planning to accompany Andy Grace and I in my land Rover, so our group is formed. Joe Macgregor, Wilbur Ostrander Jr., and Walt Hendee are up in New England after stripers right now, so we may have more before our departure time. The lure of those bronze backed tackle busters is very strong at this time of the year. LAST MINUTE News Flash — Capt. David Roseman and Rill Bright are coming horn? for a vacation from Oregon this week. The Neptune which Captain Dave runs is taking a month off for vacations.
thing biting were some nice sited blues. They got fifteen 5-lb. blues from the surf, and Richie was busy catching spot around the docks for bait. I GOT A CARD from Richie saying he wished I was there, and outlining all these catches, and I really. got hepped up about our coming trip to the “graveyard of 'the Atlantic." It looks like the local gang from the Cape lyiay Co.—Hatteras Anglers might run into some real good drum fishing this year. So far Bill llalbrunrr of Villas, and Bucky llalbrunrr from North Cape May, along with John Ffther, and Frank llineline, are planning to go. John
Rob Shi If* PARTY BOATS and private pleasure boat* were' close ashore off the Ocean City beachfront as elsewhere along the Cape this past weekend; aftrrall, the anglers follow the fish and the latter were on the beach. This wasthe scene off 9th St. Saturday under a beautiful sky. you can bu£ pencil-size eels

An advance party of the Cape May Co.-Hatteras Anglers visited the Outer Banks of North Carglina last week, and came back with some glowing reports. Rob Hertzog and his grandson "tllchie’SRaysun, and Charlie Farr, of Haddon Heights toifed Charlie’s • boat to Hatteras, and got into some terrifc-fishing in the Gulf stream ON THEIRTirst day out they were catching bqnito and alhacore regularly, and as they got on the edge of the stream, Charlie hooked a big sailfish on 15 lb. test. They got him to the boat, measured him and released him, and Bob said ;it was a bigger than usual sail for the Hatteras area On the second day they caught some nice hlackfin tuna, and at one time Bob and Charlie were both hooked up on sails, and Richie ran the boat while they played them. On the third day the famous HaV teras wind started blmving, and they fished the tjeach. Bob said a lot of puppy drum had been taking during the nicer days, but on the day they fished the only
