In last week’s interview with Sheriff Beech Fox. there was a typo^resulting in the word appearing as anticipated. His reference to the old county jail should have read: “...it was unfair and wrong and improper for this county to continue using an antiquated building...”

preliminary kite plan approval to construct 170'units on a 84-acre tract between Fire La. and Fishing Creek Rd. Their former, plans — which would have required variances for lot frontage, width, area and density — called for 275

units.

According to township Land Use Official Feme Detwiler, the 170 urrits are pewnitted under the new zoning ordinance's R-2 provisions. Minimum lot sizes in the R-2 district are 75 x

100 ft.

In August the Planning Board decided that to allow variances for 275 units would effectively result in a zoning change — the Township Committee being the only body authorized to take such action. The board ruled it had no jurisdiction

to handle the variance request and subsequently denied the subdivision applicatiorf. • Under the original application, the subdivision would have been developed

under R-3 zoning regulations under which minimum lot sizes are 60 x 100 sq ft. Less open space would have been provided. The boari( meets 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8 in Township Hall. Villas
