U.S. Vows S. Jersey Voice On Pineiands

VINELAND - Assembly Minority Leader James R. Hurley met today on Capitol Hill with a special assistant to Interior Secretary James Watt to discusi South Jersey’s opposition to the Pineiands Commission's restrictive regulations and "the arbitrary way thtfy have been administered " Speaking at the opening of Republican headquarters on Laqdis Ave. here, "Hurley spoke of his rrfeeting in Washington with Special Assistant Rich Davige. ■•SOUTHMERSKY isih* victim of ovcr-regulatiop and bureaucratic red tape,” Hurjey said he told Davige. He sfiid Davige promised to end the "arbitrary decision-making that characterizes the present commission "We in South Jersey have had to wait long enough for our voices to be heard," Hurley remarked "The Democrats in Trenton and Washington have

refused to listen to our recommendations. This meeting in Washington has left me optimistic about the return of some measure of local control to those South Jersey municipalities that lie in or near the pineiands."
