PEG GRIMES of 95th St went up to Casinoland last week to try her luck at the . Golden Nugget She uses the same sort of self control that we do She puts the number of quarters she is prepared to lose in her purse and plays ’til they’re gone That night she took out her last quarter and said to her companion "stafld back this is going to be the winner." And was it ever! The second her coin went into the machine there wgs all kinds 6f bells, whistles, and smoke and she got one hun-
dred dollars in quarters. She played a little longer ajid came home $106
richer.
ALL TlTE^^nsign Pulvers 0 /don’t jom the Navy. Virginia and William Phillips of 221-56th St. in Avalon have, a son William J. Jr., who enlisted in the Coast Gudrd four years ago at Cape May. He has-been serving ET-2 on the heavy buoy tender, Hornbeam Just> as his four-year hitch ca^ie to its conclusion the Hornbeam . was returning a repaired buoy to its station at Governor’s Island, N.Y It seems there is d Coast Guard ruling that one must wait 24 hours before reenlisting and Bill spent his 24 hours as a civilian on the Hornbeam watching the .lights of the Big Apple
twinkling in the background. One may also choose the spot to be sworn in and Bill chose an odd place to re-enlist. The top of the radio tower on the
ship. „
That’s a high, high plac£ to be and of course the officer who swore him in hath to go up there too to perform the ceremony. Anyway Bill meant business—he signed on for six more years of duty and hopes to get additional training at San Diego. LAST WEEK we told you how exciting the Quillman Kershners and the Al Johnsons ' found Baltimore's Inner Harbor while cruising on the Mon Ami. This week we talked „ to Jim Fisher df Seashore Home Supplf and got a less enthusiastie appraisal of
the same Harbor. Joey and Jim. Ed and Rebe DesCbamps, and Paul and Gail McConnell all took their sailboats down a week later and didn’t hit nice weather. They were blown in for two days ifl Cape May and two days a^ Annapolis as well. Jim said Inner Harbor did have handsome buildings and restaurants, but for boaters It had some bad drawbacks too. It has slips for 150 boats but only two showers. The only gas dock was closed and he darned near ran out of gas. He said that Oxford still maintains its charm, and St. Michael's was as much fun as ever—so they had a* great cruise anyway. • • • S ' ELAINE AND her husband Dr. Bob Junl never cease to amaze us. Bob has completely remodeled their horn? at 305-84th St. Even to laying a magnifi- ' cent parquet floor which is smpoth as satin to the touch and insulating an obtside shower then lining jt in cedar. Bob is one of those

Last week they invited • Marty and Jim Conlin, Bob's sister Doris, Lois $nd Richard Wells and their beautiful daughter Nancy and us to an absolutely gourmet meal. Bob laughingly remarked Wefi everything you're 'eating came from our South forty, meaning their garden and the bay.
