Swimmers Get ' New Coaches

CAPE MAY -Edward Poznek and Larry Maree, a pair of experienced young men in swimihing instruction and competitive swimming, have tak$n over the reins as cocoaches of the Landmark City Lappers ,age group swimming and diving team. Poznek has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from Temple University where he also became certified in Water Safety Instruction (WSI) and NAUI Scuba Diving Instruction as well as garnering several years of competitive swimming experience. MAREE. A FORMER longtime member of the Cape May Bech Patrol, also holds W.S.I certification and last year coached a Philadelphia YMCA age group swim ming team during an

outstanding season. Poznek and Maree. instructional staff members of the Department of Civic Affairs, conduct practices 7-9 p.mv every Wednesday and Friday at the Elementary School Swimming Pool. They also teach and coach the Diving Team 6-7 p.m. Wednesdays. The team’s first meet of 'ithe season will be Nov. 21 ht the Millville YMCA. Band Dinner COURT HOUkE - The Middle Township High School Panther Marching Band will sponsor a spaghetti dinner in the Methodist Memorial Hall 5-7 p.m. Friday. A bake table and take-out service for the dinner will be available.

Sideline Shots By The Old Sport

The Middle Twp. Panthers ran their record to 3-2 by defeating St. Joseph’s of Toms River by a score of 13-0. Tommy Gintoraki connected on 6 pass to Frank Brown for a 52-yd. touchdown. The kick by Tofer was good Joe DiGiacomo intercepted a pass for a 21-yd. touchdown and the conversion failed. Neither team could put on a sustained drive. St. Joe's had no running game and filled the air with passes MIDDLE’S OFFENSE was stopped, incurring 15 penalties for a total of 155 yds. The famed “Orange Crush" defense of.Middle Twp. lived up to its name by smothering St Joe’s offense. Middle's team sustained several injuries, the worst being Jeff Tanner's ankle. With St. Joe's of Hammonton losing to Lower Cape May. it left Buena as the only Undefeated team in the CAL. Middle will have to beat Ifammonton and Ocean City to remain in contention. Don Rainesmltli, president of the Football Boosters Club, has come up with an idea that deserves consideration. He would sta^e a football game between the Alumni of Middle Twp. and Lower Cape May to be played for a charity on Thanksgiving morning. How about it?
