bell — ‘ who has been leading the effort to establish a veterans memorial area in the township fof several years — the local school board has money available to purchase small monuments to recognize veterans from World War I, and the Korean and Vietnam wars. The narties of township servicemen killed in these wars would be inscribed on the appropriate monument. ••the monuments will serve two purposes." Campbell explained recently. "First, it will serve as recognition of our veterans. Secondly, we are trying to get our children to recognize the contribution children from this area have made to. historic events. All the names on the monument — all the young men being recognized — went to this school," he noted. Although the school district has some money available for the project, it is^currently soliciting comments from anyone who may object to the purchase of monuments. It would also appreciate any input and aid the ‘various township veterans groups •' could supply. ? "We have never properly recognized any of our vets after World War II," the superintendent said. "Hopefully by- next Memorial Day ' we’ll be ready for formal dedicaI tion ceremonies of otlr ] memorial area."
