AVALON Councilman Raymohd S. Gray attended « meeting of the MUA in Dcegn City on Nov. 24 armed With •statistics he had a?ked boro auditor Irwin Goller to prepare. He reported back to Council on Nov 25. His revelations were disturbing both to the Council and to thft public. . Wheretos pr«5«ntly the cost per "house hpla unit for sewage is approximately $60, under the IlUA's present budget thejWqgMo the borough is $300.13 per unit and will increase to $347.93. . THE BASISif for thisi calculation: The current \ charge for sewage from the '
is37wasrais- - municipality is $495,598 ed and When you add the annual
Charge of $1.312.300 of MUA to be increased to $1.771,898 by dividing the cost of the presently existing 5,100 household units, you arrive at the figure of $347.93 per household. The Golden Inn, for example, which pays $5,730 a year will be paying
$33,900 for sewage.
Councilman Gray also noted that boro engineer, Al Herman has spotted \! some discrepancies and protested them at the t'ifhe. After the meeting Mr. German was asked to return to the MUA and discuss his
complaints.
WE REMINDED you last-week not to miss the wonderful Seven Mile Beach Ecumenicdh Fellowship Thanksgiving Service on Nov. -22 and surely hope you didn't. The auditorium of Maris Stella was crowded vvith' good people wanting to demonstrate thelrfaith and counting their many bless-
ings.
All the dernoninations on
the island were represented by their
clergy.
THE MUSIC from both the adult and youth choirs was superb. The Cantor James Kruc had a particularly moving voice. It was also inspiring to see so many beautiful young people participating. Ushers included Albert Meadowcroft. Laura Harrison. Jon Keary, Adam Schulz and Teresa Rieser. Serving as Acolytes were Patrick Dwyer. Sean Conner, Gregory Martin, Lisa Saraduke and Edmund Donovan.Following the service . there was a delicious buffet supper and we chatted with many friends from both Avalon and Stone Hatbor. Ecumenicity has long been
close to this writer's heart. GOING BACK to the days of being a member of' St. Mary’s Church in Ardmore (The church which owns and supports the Russell Cottage in Stone Harbor for the use of its family members) we were chairman of the ecumenical committee when we had to explain what the word meant to 1 most parishioners. We always hoped to achieve something like last Sunday’s service and were thrilled that it had already coipe about in this community

LYDIA AND Ron Borek of Dune Dr. had a hairy experience last week. They were returning from a visit to distant, friends when their younger son Steven, became rcative. Lydia suggested changing from the rear right hand side to the front side to quiet the younger sibling. They were just about to turn onto the j\valon Exit from the ParkWay when there was a horrendous crash on the window where Lydia and the baby had been sitting. FRAGMENTS OF glass filled the back seat of the car and the Boreks thought someone had shot at them from the marsh. Ron called the police at the next phone and they responded immediately. After investigation it was decided that some drunk or crazy kid hurled a tremendous rock
at the car.
Luckily, no one was injured but they were all frightened, happy to be safe and awfully frightened at what some loonies will do to get their jollies.
