THE INN AT BETHLEHEM ,

The. Inn was crowded, no-one from inside Had seen the Star or heard the angels sing, They never knew'that just beyond the door A baby had beer\ born to be their king: For these are busy folk in Bethlehem, Exchanging views, lamenting of their cares, Commanding tablesV>d the choicest/ood, Engrossed in their own problems and affairs. The keeper top was anxious for his guests Ah'd strives to see each detail was set right:

How could he then make room for peasant folk Who came entreating (ft his door tonight? Do not think harshly of the'little Inti, Or yet-of those who tarried long ago About the tables with their own concerns. They merely erred because they did not hnow. The keeper was harrassed on every side. He knew not that he turned the Christ away, Thinfe rather after nineteen hundred years There can be no excuse for us toddy! —\t»ey Kndlretl

With Christmas drawing closer and closer, this column continues to offer gift ideas. One of the most adventurous and popular rock hands to emerge from the so-called "new wave" scene is The Cart. Springing from Boston, The Cars have consistently released entertaining albums. Their new one, Shake It Up (Elektra) is no exception. Offbeat melodies and complex arrangements highlight the musical end of The Cars, while the vocals take on an eerie, mechanicafedge. Great songs and an album.that would make the perfect gift for any rock fdn. ATLANTIC RECORDS has started a Jazz reissue pro^ gram that is much needed. One of their better reissues is . the amazing album "Twins" by alto-saxophonist Ornette Coleman. The pieces on this record are highly emotional, as Coleman is not only a fi^ry musician, but as a bandleader he inspires his groups to play with the same intensity he has. This is a fine album and Jazz fans should welcome its return to the rdcord racks. The Moody Blues return to the top-ten with Long Distance Voyager (Threshold). As usual the sound is rich and lush with heavy arrangements keeping things tame for quite a few rock fans. But, The Moqdy Binds’ audience is sure to be satisfied with "Long Distance Voyager." AC/DC Just rocked the Spectrum and from their popularity oh FM rock station* *, their new album would please quite a few people. "For Those About To Rock" (Atlantic) continues in thqir tradition of hard driving, high energy music''with a dominatipg guitarist and a tough lead vocalist. AC/pC are rarely subtle, but they’re usually overpowering. A BIT MORE SEDATE is Bob Seger, although his new double live album is a well-paced collection of some of his most popular numbers. (From Page 20) American menu? The D’Continental Lounge & Restaurant, at Walnut & N. LASTS & LASTS AT FRED’S TAVERN. This well known tavern is reminiscent of those taverns tucked away along.the shore wh?re pbople would come back year after year, and find the same good times. Fred’s at 314 96th Street, in Sfcne Harbor comes closest to that type than virtually any other we know of. Not only generous bverages are served here, but tasty snacks and weekend entertainment. Now decorated for the season, Fred’s features the same good tidings as always whether you’ve never been there before or whether you're a regular. A choice recommendation.
