CAPE MAY - The galleries of the County Art League, in the Carriage House, 1050 Washington St., will be closed until spring, when they will be reopened for the monthly schedule of exhibits. Navy Award For Rescue

STftATHMERE - Navy Boiler Technician 3rd Class Gary L. Rocco, son of Mr and Mb; Carmen A. Rocco,^ recently received the Humanitarian Service Medal. Rocco is a crewmember aboard the frigate USS Fanning,, homeported in San Diego, Calf. His ship received its second Humanitarian Service Medal within nine weeks for saving the lives of 30 Vietnamese refugees. The USS Fanning located a drifting 45-foot boat in the Sojjlh China Sea, 3bo miles east of Saigon. The boat was without fuel, and the 'occupants .had b£en without food or water for more than three weeks. THE FIRST AWARD was made earlier this year • following the ship’s rescue of 43 men, \Vomen and children from their small boat 30 miles west of Subic Bay

Safety Poster Winners STONE HARBOR-Fire Chief Douglass Stanford announced the winners in the Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Company’s annual Fire prevention poster contest. The theme this year was “Safety For the Holidays.” A total of 47 elementary •school children from the kindergarten to the 4th grade participated in the Contest. In addition to a first, second and third place winner in each grade all the children in the kindergarten class received plastic fire hats. All the children also received a coupon from McDonald's. THE FIRE COMPANY awarded a silver dollar to ' each first place winner and half-dollar to the second place winner. McDonald’s awarded a coupon for French Fries to the third place winners.
