WILDWOOD FOLKS are famous for rallying around neighbors faced with itoajor misfortune. Typical of these efforts was one in 1972 when fund raising committee assisted the betreaved families of four fishermen lost at sea when their commercial fishing trawler, Rita and Lorenc. disappeared without a trace. A committee, of 16 raised'over $16,000 for the surviving families. Now a current effort is underway to benefit Andrea Osborn and the Osborn family. Ms. Osborn is resting comfortably at home after a major operation. The benefit will be held Saturday, Jan, 9th at the poplar Cafe. Pacific & Poplar Avenues from 9 p m. to 1 a m. Even if you can’t attend the Beef and Beer benefit try to buy a ticket or two WITH offshore scallop beds apparently depleted, some area commercial fishermen are engaged irra costly conversion of their boats to accomodate North AtlanticYtuna fishing. The few who have engaged in the tuna fishery so far have been successful. About a decade ago, several California tuna fcftats engaged in a profitable tuna fisHery.off our shore ALTHOUGH the North

Wildwood A & P will re-, main open as the Court House branch closes, many Jocal employees will lose thetr jobs when some from Court House with more seniority are assigned to the Wildwood and other county A & P Stores. Even the N.J. State Unemployment Office has le$s

employees since the Prpfifdenl’s edict on supplementary benefits has reduced claimants. Most surprising is that island stores selling lottery-tickets have been forced to lay off help, indicating many folks are not even risking the purchase of that glimmer of hope known as a lottery ticket. DOLLY PARTON is just qp5 of the headliriers for the country rock festival on the North Wildwood beach on Saturday, May 22nd. Tom D’Arcangen) and associates of Miss Kitty’sSaloon and Dance Hall arc leasing the beach for $100,000 for the one night festival ihat will attract over 100.000. Congrats to North Wildwood solons for approving this valuable

business-booster.
