COURT HOUSE - A state senator* and a retired businessman have been named co-chairmen of the Wildwoods Division for the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital's $1.5 million fund drive. Appointed by Campaign Chairman Robert J. Smellier were Sen. James S. "Cafiero of North Wildwood and retired Wildwood motel owner Frank'Foster. "MR. FOSTER and I have assumed the cochairmanships because of our concern for providing the best possible health care facilities for the residents of Cape May County and for the many thousands who come to our area each year," said Senator Caflero. Foster is especially close to the- hospital, having , served as a rriember of the Board of Governors for 10 years. He currently is a member of the board'* buildings and grounds committee. His public service also has included membership on the Cape May Coun-

ty Park Commission and the planning board of Woodbine, where he is a resident. * SEN. CAFIERO also has close ties with th<* hospiptf, having served formerly as a member of the Board of Governors. A Princeton graduate, Cafiero has been In the New Jersey legislature since 1967, first as on assemblyman and then as a senator since

1971. His previous community involvements have incluctaJ chairmanships of the county’s Red Cross and Community Concerts Association and the presidency of the Cape May "County Bar Associa-

Child Abuse Combatted

RIO GRANDE - The county's social service workers are working together in new ways to combat child abuse and neglect, thanks to the Joint efforts of the county's Division of Youth and Family Services and Mental Health Services. For the past several months, agency, school and court workers, joined by concerned citizens, have been meeting to launch a Joint attack on the complex problems of child abuse

and neglect. THIS EFFORT has resulted in the creation of a Community Child Abuse and Neglect Team The team meets monthly or bimonthly to facilitate cooperative work with families, to promote community education, and to put emphasis on prevention of abuse and neglect. A treatment planning team made up of members of six agencies meets monthly to plan cooperative work with children and

their families. A Speakers Bureau is being organized. Other program planning efforts also are underway. THE TEAM'S NEXT meeting will be 1:30-3 p.m.. Wednesday.
