blue marlin mounted so that it seemed to be coming right out of the wall Sal’s brother Ben was there, and so was Cpt. Iny Sorace. Sal'^son, and the four of us relived that fabulous day during the Tournament of Champions when Sal caught that prize fish, L I have been privileged to witness some great catches during my fishing days, but I think this event topped anything I've ever seen I was alsoducky enough to have had my camera along, and from the bridge of the Five Star I got some good pictures that will bring us all memories for years to come I don't think any of us will ever forget that experience, and we’ve gbt the pictures to
prove it
I KNOW THIS SEEMS HARD TO believe, but I was hap pier fof'Sal than if I'd caught that great fish myself 1 felt very privileged to have been part of that catch by being able to capture it on film, knowing that it was the fulfillment of one of Sal’s life ambitions. He’S caught a lot of big fish, but this 550 pound giant was the real prize. I»ater on in the week I ran. into llenny Blum of Stone Harbor, and he told me he was heading for Ralm fleach to fish in the Masters Tournament for sailfish This is an anriual invitational, and is bnd of the most famous of the Florida salt water contests. The entries are sorted out by computer as to what boat they will fish, so Hcnny won’t know until he gets there who he'4l'be fishing with I wish I knew more about this tournament, so I could describe it better, but I want to wish Henny a lot of lucky in it. HK IS AN HONORARY MKMBKR of the Capf May Co -Hatteras Anglers, and the night before he left I took him one of our new caps for luck' Hcnny said fishing had picked up real Rood down South, and he was anxious to get
dfljvn there for some action
Later on in the week Bob Neely informed me that a

SOUNDINGS By Boyd Tyl«r§ group from Peterson’s Cafedn Mayville had chartered a party boat up in Brielle, and came back with 30 codfish. That’s about all the local fishing news I've been able to gather, * , This week the judge? of the Cape May County Fishing tournament meet to judge the 1981, and Gbod Lord willing. I’ll get to see a lot of my old friends, and compare fishing notes with them. We are meeting oyer at Joe Catanoso’s Lodge in Anglesea Beach Colony, and I’ll try tft get,a full report back on the pinners. < CPT DICK WEBER OF THE SOUfjl JERSEY Fishing Center put out a new* letter listing the various tournaments that South Jersey will sponsor tbis year; they are
as follows:
• July 8.9, & 10 is the 5th Anni^ai $10,000 White Marlin Open. This was one of their most popular tournaments, and produced a lot of white mhrlin la&t y<;ar, along with a
big catcli of Yellow fin Tuna.
• Aug 27,28 & 29'they are going to try something new, a $50,000 Marlin Mardi Gras, which will^ replace the Fall
Biilfish Festival of last year.
Sept 11,12,13,14,15 & 46 they Will.host the invitational Tournament of Champions which is strictly by invitation \o the winners of other major tournaments alongAthe co'ast. It has been aptly dubbed the “World Series of Off
shore Filing."
Another feature this year will be The South Jersey Tri pic Cr^wn. This trophy will be awarded to the winner of • high points in each of the three major South Jefse^billfish tournaments. The victories must be consecutive but may start with any leg and can therefore ewer more than one
season
It looks like another big tournament season in 1982. and that should make these events outstanding.
