When members of established bands make solo albums, the end result is usually a shambles. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Blondle’s Jimmy Destrl and The Rolling StonM’ Ron Wood have just issued solo efforts that are passable, but pale in comparison to their work with the groups they’re

known for.

JIMMY DESTRI has composed some of Blondie’s most popular numbers. He’s Mso responsible for their thick keyboard sound and background vocals. Heart On A Wall (Chrysalis) consists of some excellent songs, but Destri’s voice lacks the emotional punch a frontman should have and the production is flat. Hopefully, Blondie won’t stqy on “vacation’’ for too long, because Jimmy Degtri obviously writes tdnes worth hearing, only he needs a vocalist such as Debbie Harry to puli them off. * RONNIE WOOD’S solo career began during his tenure with The Faces, long before he joined The Rolling Stones. All of his solo records have a sloppy, lefs-have-fun attitude, but his vocals owe too njuch to Bob Dylan and most of the songs aren't very memorable , To make things even worse, his guitar playing lapks the drive it has when he plays with Keith Richards. 12 3 4 (Columbia) will be bought by the most hard-core Rolling Stones’ fans, but others will simply pass it by .because it’s too mediocre to hold up to repeated playings. BUSH TETRAS are an exciting New York dance band. They’ve just issued a four song mini-album, Rituals (Stiff) that should find them doing well on the ''disco charts. Strong vocals and funk rhythms, coupled with stellar production from Clash drummer Topper Hcadon, Tnakfe this a record to search out and The Bush Tetra* a band to watch out for. A GOOD WAY to eliminate Ihe winter blues Event To Aid Junction CAPE MAY - A soup-sandwich-dessert luncheon and silent auction is planned for Noon, Feb. 25 by The Episcopal Church Women, Church of the Advent, in the Parish House. Washington and Franklin Sts.. Half of the proceeds will go to their Mission Response project. Operation Junction, in Wildwood. In recognition of the superior performance of drug abuse counseling performed by Operation Junction, the county has given it the job of alcohol abuse counseling as well. Unfortunately in the face of the added responsibility, the government has drastically cut its funding. According to Edward Olwell, director, who said that Cape May County is the worst in New Jersey for alcohol abuse.

is fcbuy.n copy of California US.A. (Columbia). This is an impressive collection of “summer-

oriented” pop tunes. ; Many of these weren’t , hits, but tracks such as Bruce & Terry's Summer Means Furi. Sparks’ Over Shy in' Away should have been, as they’re delightful pop songs. Take a chance, as this record is sure to make everyone forget the snow and freezing winds.

The casual bdr/eating area is perfect for spirited fun and a relaxed meal.
