IF FEBRUARY'S HERE, can spring be far behind? (Depends, we guess, on how February comes off. )• Nevertheless, the daylight is quite a bit longer nowadays than it was a month or so ago. And that in itself helps us to think UP. ; ’ ; One thing FebruartyX got going for it, it’s a birthday month. There’s Lincbfn’s birthday on the 12th and Washington's on the 22nd, and what « all amounts to nowadays is something called Presidents Day on the 15th. There are plenty of traditionalists around these parts tho who insist on celebrating Lincoln’s birthday on Lincoln's birthday and Washington’s birthday on Washington’s bir-

thday.

We have to admit February’s birthdays do get a little confusing, but the school kids take to it very readily--since the birthdays mean some time off for them. , ; OFTEN ^INTER-GETS WORSE - beforfe it gets better as February rolls.omSo beware - cold.rbitter 1 weather may

be living with us for awhile this month.

Nevertheless, there’ll be Valentine’s Day to warm the mid-month. It is, after all, love that makes the world go

'round, isn't it?

One thing February is good/or — sleeping. We’re never

been much of an early riser, but in February, forget it, period. February mornings we like to sleep. Seems to be

the hardest month ot the year to wake up in. But, once awake here’s some nifty places you might like

to visit:

^ FRED’S TAVERN — IT’S CONTAGIOUS! Fred’s at 814-96th Street, Stone Harbor has such a friendly, intiihate atmosphere, you’ll feel like its your home away from home. (fce of those authentic, old-fashioned taverns where/good friends meet, it looks and sounds like one of those familiar taverns you knew back when. . There's entertainment in the lounge weekends that includes groups who carry out the friendly spirit of Fred’s to perfection. A tavern for all seasons, Fred’s atmosphere is just the place to spend a relaxing afternoon or evening. The liquor store is open daily year round. Fred’s is just the

place for you.

CAPT’N ARAB’S — WHEN WE SAY Family Restaurant this is the place! Everything, but everything , at Capt’N Ahab’s friendly restaurant on Rt. 47 (Wildwood Blvd.) between Rt. 9 & Garden State Parkway is tasty and happily prepared to your Oder. The Captain welcomes his customers with delightful, hearty choices, including

special children’s platters.

There’s always a variety of homemade items you won’t easily find elsewhere. Open for dinner Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday, from 5 to 9 p.m. this is a totally relaxing restaurant with an inviting atmosphere. BENNY’S HAS ONLY ONE STAND - the highest quality. Whether you are a true connoisseur or simply enjoy the sheer pleasure of fine foods and beverages, you can travel the world over and not find a more enjoyable restaurant & lounge than Henny’s at 97th & Third Aves., Stone Harbor. gourmet’s delight.

appetite!), or the Prime Rib of Beef.

Open at 11 a m. everyday (closed Sundays only), the Hof Brau serves dinner at 5 p.m. Complimentary relish tray is a highlight during the Happy Hour 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. NO WONDER FOLKS COME TO THE ATLANTIC DINER!
