COURT HOUSE - A study recently perforrtied by the county Engineer's Office indicates the establishment of one-way streets on Mechanic St. and Hand Ave., here, isn’t warranted at this time. In the meantime, preparations are underway to widen Mechanic St. The study disclosed there is currently an average daily traffic volume on Mechanic St. of approximately 2,000 vehicles. The traffic-carrying capacity of the street is estimated at
several times the present volume. At the intersection of Rt. 9 Maih St. and Mechanic Sr, the volume was 56 percent of the capacity. • THE STUDY did indicate some revision of the traffic signal plan is needed so that left-turning vehicles might be better accommodated. In addition, it was felt the diagonal parking, on Rt. 9 should be changed to parallel parking so traffic flow isn’t disrupted by vehicles backing into moving lanes of
