IRELAND'S THIN LIZZY ts back with another strong album. Renegade fWarner Brothers) shbws why this group has been a huge success on the rock circuit- Thin Lilly can he asfiard and powerful as any band, yet they’re equally adept al playing more qiliel, subtle music. Philip Lynott has a distinctive voice, and the thick guitar sound backs him nicely. Thin Liny is Showing no signs of growing old The Bobby Fuller Four will always be fondly remembered for their classic hit f Founhl The Low But Bobby Fuller’s ^ mysterious death in 1966 \ closed the chapter on a group with quite a bit of potential. Beal Of The Bob by Fuller Four (Rhino, . 1160?) W Pico Blvd., Los Angeles. CA 90064) is proof the Bobby Fuller Four weren’t one-hit wonders. This group could rock with the best of Ihem. Bobby Fuller was obviously* influenced by Buddy Holly, yet many of these numbers have a strong merseybeat feel to them. A great collection and Rhino should be praised for their ongoing
reissue program.
SOFT CELL’S huge club hit. Tainted Love, is one of •the best singles to be issued in years Strong melody. „ 'sung and played with plenty of passion. However, their debut album. NonSlop Erotic Cabaret (Sire) is 'uneven, fts best moments are when Self Cell play their modern soulS music, but too often the* group tries to be cute, which ruins everything. Skip the album and pick up the 12-inch single of
Tainted Love.

By Charles P. Lamey
second album, Credit In Heaven (Twin Tone, 445 Oliver Avenue. So. Mpls , Mn. 55405) has a lot to oL fer The Suburbs can rock with more than their share of energy, yet at times they can sound rather progressive Best of all, The Suburbs seem to actually care about ftyeir
songwriting; as the‘group has little filler material on this two record set! TheSuburbs are 6 hot group and one worth watching. Ian Durr’s Lord Up mlntter (Polydor) finally delivers what he'promised on his early singles. The music is heavily based in R&B and reggae rhythms, and Dury’s gruff voice is demanding, yet, somehow, charming. After a string of mediocre albums, it’s nice to hear one that is fine for both dancing and listening.
