Don’t Forget Herbs

GETTING A DUSTING from Dawn Creek, asst, carator of the County Museum, this,old farm Implement is one of hundreds of Items that will be featured at the spring open ouse Saturday. Open House At Museum COURT HOUSE - The County Historical and Genealogical Society is sponsoring a Spring Open House for the public at the Museum 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, April 3, in the John Holmes House, which serves as the museum. A FARM IMPLEMENT exhibit will be featured. Special events have been planned to entertain visitors throughout the day. Beginning at 11 a m. Mrs. Wayne Tozer of Clermont will conduct a quilting demonstration on her eight-foot antique frame loom. At 1:30 p.m. the North Wildwood Senior Square Dance Group, leadhy Mrs. John Wheeler of Goshen, . will kick up their heels. The women will dress in flounce skirts complete with pantaloons while the men will wear traditional western shirts and string ties. Following their performance, the audience may participate and'team a few basic steps. The Crafty Foxe of Palermo will demonstrate how to make cornhusk wreaths at 3:30 p.rh.

For the cook who likes to add a bit of magic to her meals, it is also the time to check the herb garden; to see what has stood the winter weather and what may have to be replaced. Some of our favorite herbs, such as Marjoram, don’t grow in the United States. But we have many that do exceedingly well in our climate; the list includes Basil, Chives, Dill. Thyme. Peppermint. If you don’t have a herb garden now, I would suggest you start one. If you ddn t have a garden plot, a pot or two of the herb will do. Most any store selling seeds will haye packets of herb seeds, except pepper mint. If you have a friend
