The South Jersey Resource Conservation and Development Council is making available copies of two RC&D- publications listing sources of plant species for Pinelands or seashore ffeis Some Sotmcgf of Plant Material Indigenous Tot 'Pinelands Area*. .1981-82 and Some Source* of Plant Material Native or Adapted To Seashore Con ditions 1981-82 are the result of a survey made of niinleries and garden centers in the ten southern New Jersey counties. PLANTS LISTED include many which can be specified to comply with the iandsctlping requirements of municipal planning boards or state . agencies such as NJ^DEP Division of Coastal Resources and the Pinelands Commission. Concerned about en vironmental quality, New Jersey municipalities and state agencies are more and. more requiring developers to protect existing vegetation, restore and replace cleared, vegetation, and to make use of environmentally appropriate plants, especially those native to the site. THE PINELANDS Comprehensive "Master Plan specifies that Pinelands natives will be used and . that clearing will be at a minimum. The Coastal Resources and Development Policies of the New Jersey Coastal Management Program require, to the maximum extent practicable, that existing * vegetation be preserved add new vegetation include » 'appropriate native Coastal species. Some municipalities have

similar requirements. In order to meet these requirements, users must know where to obtain these plants. The South Jersey Resource Conservation and Development Coutfcil, whose mission is to encourage the wise use of renewable resources to contribute economic benefits to the area, organized tyis effort to -make such information available. For each copy, send $1 to the South Jersey RC&D Council, P.O. Box 676 Hammonton, 06037. , SOUTH JERSEY?
