PARKER'S The Rumour, is a fairly

solid record. As can be expected, Graham Parker's vocals are exquisite. Everything he sings is full of passion, and, for that reason alone this album is worth the price. The material is consistent, too, but the backing leaves a bit to be desired. These sessionmen lack the conviction of The Rumour and at times it detracts a bit. Nevertheless, Graham Parker is a true talent, who seems to be on the verge of cracking the States in a big way. Another Grey Area (Arista) might not be his best moment, but it’H still beat every white R&B act

around.

LAST YEAR, Greg Kihn finally had the hit he’s long deserved. His brand of pop/rock is vibrant and fun. His new album. Kihntinued (Beserkley) is another strong collection of tracks with excellent, hook filled melodies sung by a happy, sincere vocalist. The band is sharp and to the point, enhancing everything Kihn does. The Greg Kihn Band should be able to hold onto their mass audience with this album.
