Sounds (From Page 20) could quite easily be the best rock and roll band in America today. They write and sing powerful tunes, based strongly in the tradition of early Stones. Yardbirds, Animals, etc. The singing is strong the playing inspired, the material well-crafted, and there’s no reason why The Fleshtones won’t someday be stars. Take my word for it, rock and roll fans should be supporting this group. The Fleshtones deserve success. ANOTHER NEW group with a promising debut is Slow Children. Their first album on Ensign/RCA is a warm collection of synthesizer based pop tunes. Unlike most bands who tred in this territory, Slow Children write songs with emotion. They also have good voices. There’s a lot here to indicate a bright future ahead of Slow Children. All they need are a few good breaks.
