escape from her dreap' existence as a salesgirl at Woolworth’s. And throughout the two-act Tom Stoppard ‘comedy,' produced by the Jersey Cape performing Arts Guild, there is stream-of-consciousness fortune cookie observations to work through as George hangs onto his dreams, trying to dispel the endless tedium of his life. Mariam Holzmer, as George’s wife Penelope, portrays the long-suffering spouse with quiet sympathy, as she dusts and vacuums and sweeps, while George expresses his irritation and anger.that life has passed him by.
