SOMERS POINT - Ellen Mayer, R.N., an assistant administrator at Shore Memorial Uosjytal for the past /To yearSy retired April 2 after 24 years of continuous service at the hospital. Mg. Mayer was honored with a retirement dinner at the Ram's Head Inn by more than 200 co-wofkers, professional associates, family members and friends. Mrs. Mayer, an Ocean Citw resident, began her nursing career at Akron City Hospital School of Nursing. After assignments in hospitals in Akron, Ohio, and in McKeesport, Pa., Mrs. Mayer joined Shore memorial as a staff nurse in 1958. She later served as Night Supervisor, Acting

IN THE COURSE of her career, Mrs. Mayer became a member of several professional nursing and hospital associations and'participated in numerous nursing and management seminars. She was among the first 15 nursing administrators in the United States to be nominated in recognition of professional excellence in the field of nursing service administration by theAmerican Hospital Association. At the dinner, she received several special gifts and congratulatory speeches
and notes, including a telegram from Congressman William J. Hughes. A slide program recounting her professional achievements and her journeys as an avid world traveler was presented and narrated by Norma Luckenbach, R.N., SMH Director of Nursing Service—a long-time friend and co-worker. During her retirement, Mrs. Mayer expects to continue to travel with her husband, Dick.

He was promoted to new accounts clerk at the Rio Grande office and to assistant manager in the North Cape May office in 1978. In December, 1981, he was named branch manager of North Cape May. A graduate of Northeast High School, Philadelphia, Nelson has completed several courses of study offered by the American Institute of Banking. He resides in Cape May with his wife Patricia, and their four children: Arthur 20, Michael 19, Steven 17 and Joanne 12. SOMER POINT - Mary ' Ann Pileggi, an Ocean City resident who has served in a number of supervisory nursing positions at Shore Memorial Hospital for 22 years, has been named assistant administrator. Her appointment, announced by Richard A. Pitman, executive vice president of the hospital, was made upon the retirement of Ellen D. Mayer, R.N., from the post. Ms. Pileggi formerly held the position of Assistant Director of Nursing. She has also held the titles of Infection Control Supervisor; Head Nurse, ICU; Coordinator, CCU; and Nursing Supervisor. SHE RECEIVED her nursing diploma from Temple University Hospital and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Education from Glassboro State College. She also recently received her M.A. in Business Administration from Central Michigan Unviersity. Ms. Pileggi is a state-certified teacher in health and allied
fields.
