BENEATH hit birdhouse, Mrs. Rischoff presents Mr, Borkland with his gift.

• AVALON — Members of the Avalon Garden Club met this past week prepared to work. And work they did - planting an array of bushes and shrubs to landscape the newly renovated borough library. “Over 1500 of the club’s funds went into purchasing the materials for the plantings," according to Marcia Bischoff, club president. The money was raised through various fund raising projects, including the club’s recent mushroom soil sale. HIGHLIGHT OF the day was the erection of a replica of the library in the form of a bird house. It was built by Leonard Borkland over the winter for the club. A special gift was

renovation of the library possible. The library has been a major project on my mind since I became a member of Borough Council," Mrs. Sloan noted. Grace O’Brien designed the landscape layout, which includes plants and shrubs needing little maintenance.
